6G通信系统要求石英晶体振荡器具备的关键规格X1G0042410001

通信传输网络的世界中,核心网、城域网、移动回传网、接入网和企业网络(LAN/SAN)从上至下呈树状分布。每种网络均设定 了各自通信所需的独自规格。而且,伴随近年高速通信终端及影像传输等普及,骨干网中流过的通信量有增无减,通信的高速、大容量化进展迅速,通信基础设备亦不断扩充。进行如上所示的高速数据通信的通信协议需要具备传输线路、系统以及误码率等性能。 误码率(以下简称为“BER”)是指进行收发信之际,收信方接收数据中的误码数除以发出的数据总字节数得出的错误率。尤其对 于 BER,信号所具有的噪音和抖动是非常重要的参数,对信号品质的影响极大。 本次,我们将说明基于通信设备所需的信号品质而要求振荡器具备的关键规格,并介绍市场中销售的振荡器结构及特征,以及适 于通信设备的爱普生晶振产品。

【高速通信系统的构成】 

首先,用图 1 表示两只收发模块之间通过 PCI、SATA 或 10GbE 等各种通信协议传输数据的常用通信系统传输线路。在这样的系 统中,使用振荡器生成基准信号。通常,基准信号用低于数据传输率的频率起振。所以,为了以基准信号生成串联数据,发送方使 用收发模块中的锁相环电路(PLL,Phase Locked Loop)把基准信号频率倍增到需要的频率后发送。与此相对,接收方使用收到 的数据流中内含锁相环电路的时钟数据恢复(Clock Data Recovery)复原基准信号,并用复原后的基准信号复原数据。在部分高 端系统中,也采用根据接收方所持有的基准信号复原数据的方式。如上所示,在收发信的过程中随时进行着信号的转换与复原。在 日益高速的通信中,接收方必须正确判断接收的数据是 0 还是 1。因此,如何抑制信号自身的抖动和噪音提高信号品质、如何设计 最佳的传输线路专用集成电路是非常重要的课题。

【信号品质评估手法】 

评估通信系统中信号本身的品质时,经常使用眼图。眼图是使用示波器等测试仪器收集大量高速数字信号波形后重合而成的图形, 由于波形重合后呈“眼”状而得名。 假设传输线路的通信协议为 10GbE,该系统中传输 10Gbps 的信号所用时间(长度)为各字节 100 微微秒。评估信号品质时,将 每隔 100 微微秒重复出现的信号相重合后制成眼图。假设基准信号很纯正且传输线路的专用集成电路设计良好,则可以获得如图 2 左所示的几乎完全重合的波形。与其相反,如果基准信号中噪音和抖动较多、或因专用集成电路的设计而产生传输线路的频带不足 等损失,信号波形则会变得不稳定,重合后的波形呈现图 2 右所示的眼睛逐渐闭拢的情况。

判断信号数据是 0 还是 1 时,重要的是开眼部的长宽足够大。 开眼部因噪音和抖动而缩小,将导致接收方无法准确判断信号数据,BER 变高。现在几乎所有通信系统均要求 BER 至少应达到 1 ×10-12。这意味着每传输 1012 字节的数据时允许出现 1 个字节的错误。 综上所述,从眼图中可以获得噪音、抖动或频带不足等有关信号品质的各种信息。

【构成抖动的要素】 

图 3 表示通信系统中抖动的构成要素。总体抖动 TJ (Total Jitter)用确定性抖动 DJ(Deterministic Jitter) 与随机抖动 RJ(Random Jitter)之和来表示。确定性 抖动表示因电路设计、电磁感应或外界因素而产生的抖 动。确定性抖动的特征是频率扩散保持一定,且与时间 变化无关。作为基准信号源的振荡器性能中影响确定性 抖动的是失真和分谐波。

随机抖动名副其实表示无法预测的抖动成份。它受元 器件自身的特性、热噪音等因素的影响而自然产生。随 机抖动的特征是随时间而扩散。作为基准信号源的振荡器性能中,影响随机抖动的正是基准信号源的抖动。 其它系统中的因素也被归类为产生抖动的要因,例如插件的电源噪音与串扰、因电缆设计等影响而引起的频带不足是产生确定性 抖动的要因,而专用集成电路的噪音等则是产生随时抖动的要因。因此,系统设计人员需要通过改善专用集成电路的设计、变更基 板布局以及变更部品等减小总体抖动。

【市场中销售的振荡器(基准信号源)的结构与特征】 

首先,读者应该已理解,要维持信号品质就必须选择噪音和抖动影响少的基准信号源。在此,我们将说明现在市场中销售的振荡 器的结构(类型)及其特征。

现在市场中销售的振荡器大致可分为 4 种类型,其结构如图 4 所示。 

第一种是最为常见的基波起振的振荡器。这种振荡器的噪音、抖动及失真特性十分优越,能提供高精度和高性能的所有特性。它 的电路组成也相对简单,所以能够把耗电量控制在较小程度。 

第二种是利用三次谐波的振荡器。谐波起振的电路设计中所采用的方法是利用滤波电路减小基波的负电阻,以所需倍数(这里是 三次)的频率产生负电阻。这种方法可以获得基波起振的情况下难以获得的高频输出,并且可以保持较高的 Q 值,从而能够获得 良好的低接近载波相位噪音性。然而由于电路设计(调整)较为复杂,这种方法也存在着耗电量增加,以及电容比增大而使频率可 变幅度变小的缺点。 

第三种是利用锁相环电路的石英振荡器。这种振荡器把石英或硅谐振器作为基准信号源发出输入信号,利用锁相环电路生成输入信号 的同步信号,输出必要的频率。因此,这种方法的优点在于利用锁相环电路技术获得任意频率的便利性以及能够提供高频之处。但 是,它的电路结构较为复杂致使耗电量增加,对噪音及抖动性能也带来了不良影响。我们以前也曾经介绍过,在使用硅谐振器的情 况下,由于硅谐振单元所具有的温度特性不佳,需要补偿的温度范围太大而无法进行模拟式的温度补偿,因此必须采用锁相环电路 技术进行温度补偿。所以,它在控制信号噪音和抖动的品质指标方面十分不利。 

最后是 LC 振荡器。这种振荡器与锁相环电路一样极为方便,施加功率后输出较大的振幅,且本底噪音也较低。与此相反,由于 材料本身所具有的 Q 值较低,所以频率稳定度和老化特征较差,低接近载波相位噪音性也存在着问题。 

如上所示,市场中销售的振荡器有着不同的结构,应当根据用途选择适宜的产品。为了回应这些需求,爱普生向顾客提供已具备 了作为基准信号源所需相位噪音特性、相位抖动和失真特性的振荡器产品,以此致力于维护顾客通信系统的信号品质。

【适用于通信系统的低相位抖动的爱普生振荡器产品介绍】

 爱普生将基波振荡器(类型 1)定为主力产品,已形成了具备高速通信系统所需抖动性能的不同的产品阵容。表 1 表示其中具有 代表性的产品。 

我们原则使用石英晶体单元作为波源。频率不到 80MHz 的振荡器使用 AT 型石英晶体,80MHz 以上则使用了采用反向台形 AT 型 石英晶体的高频基波模式(High Frequency Fundamental,HFF)技术,提供 SG 系列振荡器以及 VG 系列压控晶体振荡器。我们 还提供使用表面声波(SAW)技术并具有最佳抖动性能的 EG、XG 系列 SAW 振荡器,以及 EV 系列压控型 SAW 振荡器(VCSO)。 而且,我们准备了 CMOS、LV-PECL、LVDS、HCSL 等各种输出,全部产品均保持了石英本身所具有的出色优点,并拥有能够充 分满足各种用途的顾客要求的信号品质的产品规格。
